WCS assists local communities in choosing management strategies to implement in their locally managed marine areas (LMMAs) to best achieve their local objectives (focused on sustainable fisheries, livelihoods and maintenance of cultural practice). In addition, LMMAs conserve the biodiversity and functionality of important coral reef, mangrove and seagrass habitats which provide important ecosystem services.
