WCS supports all its conservation efforts through developing science-based knowledge. We undertake extensive field biological and socioeconomic surveys to understand the environment in which we are working, develop robust baselines and use this information to monitor our programs success. In addition, the information collected is used to provide the wider community an understanding of the natural environment while also informing and reforming conservation policy.
